The national economy has recorded the creation of 282,000 jobsthe first quarter of 2024 and that of 2025after losing 80,000 jobs the previous year, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This increase is mainly due to the creation of 285,000 jobs in urban areas, despite a loss of 3,000 in rural areas.
Regarding paid jobs, they recorded a notable progression of 319,000 jobs (including 299,000 in urban areas and 21,000 in rural areas), while unpaid jobs have decreased by 37,000.
Regarding the national activity rate, it increased slightly, from 42.6 %to 42.9 %, thanks to growth in the active population (+2 %) and the working age population (+1.4 %). This increase was more marked in an urban environment (+0.4 point), while it remained stable in rural areas.
As for the employment rate, it increased by 0.5 points to 37.2 % at the national level, with a significant improvement in an urban environment (+0.8 points), but a slight decline in rural areas (-0.2 point). There is also an increase in men (+0.6 point to 60.1 %) and more moderate in women (+0.2 point).
