“The goal is really to put forward the succession of the guitar at Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and allow the next generation to play with veterans, professionals at Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean,” explains the guitar teacher at the Saguenay Music Conservatory and co-organizer of the event from the outset, Pascal Valois.

To do this, several activities will take place in the coming days. During the opening party, on May 8, a concert of soloists and sets of the Saguenay Conservatory and the set the granted is on the menu. This concert is free and will take place at the Saguenay Conservatory.

The of May 9 is dedicated to the Grand Bazaar, where it will be possible to sell and buy items related to the guitar. The sale will be followed by a concert of the “pioneer of the guitar in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean”, Roger Boudreault, and the CC duo, which Pascal Valois believes to be one of the duets of guitarists in the country. All this day takes place at the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean musical camp in Métabetchouan.

The 2025 guitar meeting will end on Saturday May 10, on a good note, with a large concert of 50 guitarists at the musical camp. The classes of Laurie Bouliane (Camille-Lavoie high school), Yann Dessureault and Pascal Valois (Saguenay Conservatory) will be accompanied by the musicians Roger Boudreault, Jean-Guy Côté and Ben Gi for the grand finale. “It’s the big mixture, and old, in a large concert at 7 p.m.”

Not to be missed

Pascal Valois mentions that the objective is to offer the public high quality concerts while allowing young people to make unforgettable meetings with musicians.

“These are professional guitar concerts that are really of high quality. These are not concerts, for example, at the end of the year when parents will see their child, which is very very good, you have to do that, but there, it is a very high quality product, there are a lot of rehearsals. ”

The young guitarists who participate in the event are between 9 and 18 years old, and have more experiences for some and less for others. Amateur adults are also added to the group. For having seen the latest editions and assisted a rehearsal with his students and Roger Boudreault over the days, Pascal Valois is sure that the mission is accomplished.

“It was an incredible meeting, young people, sometimes they’ve been playing a year and they are to play in a professional concert, with super guitarists. This kind of meeting is priceless, “he adds.

The co -organizer also argues that this is still an event highly anticipated by young guitarists in the region.

There are tickets to attend the concerts given as part of the sixth edition of the guitar meeting. The opening concert, at the Saguenay Music Conservatory, is free, and it is possible to get tickets for the other two concerts at the music camp on the event website.
