Ultra -formed foods, a false good idea for health
Ultra -formed foods are everywhere: sweet or savory snacks, instant soups, prepared dishes, cold meats, soft drinks … They contain little or no raw ingredients, but a long list of additives, artificial aromas, preservatives or emulsifiers. Published in the journal Obesity Science and Practicea recent study followed a group of 14 adults who consumed an average of two ultra -formed food per day. For eight weeks, they participated in a program aimed at reducing their consumption by half, with, in support, educational sessions, practical advice to plan meals, psychological support to better manage desires, and even financial support to buy healthier products.

The results are speaking. Participants consumed on average 600 less calories per day, reduced their sugar intake by 50%, saturated fat by 37%and sodium by 28%. In parallel, they observed an average weight loss of approximately 3.5 kg, an improvement in their mood, a clearer skin, a decrease in swelling and a significant increase in their energy level.
Beyond these immediate benefits, researchers point out that this food change could also have lasting impacts. Moreover, an analysis published in 2024 shows that excessive consumption of ultra -formed food increases the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, type 2 diabetes or colorectal cancer.
