According to the results of the public health barometer (SPF), published Tuesday, April 29, in the Weekly epidemiological bulletinonly 24 % of adult women and 18 % of men follow the recommendations in terms of fruits and vegetables. Insufficient consumption that can have heavy health impacts: food, when it is not adequate, is recognized as one of the main risk factors for preventable chronic diseases, playing a major role in the occurrence of type 2 diabetes, obesity, cancer and cardiovascular disease, and causes nearly an avoidable death in the world.
The SPF barometer survey, conducted in the 2021 by telephone with more than 24,000 adults aged 18 to 85, joined, for the first time, a detailed questionnaire on food habits. The methodology used does not, however, make it possible to precisely assess the quantities consumed or to follow the evolution of these consumption.
