When is your association born?
Its historic cradle is the Golf des Ormes. When in 2007, I proposed this challenge to managers of the time, I was followed and encouraged. I was touched in my family entourage very close by a person with Charcot’s disease. I did not know how to help scientific research to fight against this disease, so I had the idea of creating this association. Then, the golf courses of Saint-Malo (at the Tronchet), La Freslonnière (Le Rheu), Cissé-Blossac (Bruz) and Lancieux (Côtes-d’Armor) also organized this same event successfully and the participation of golfers was and remains excellent.
-Where are the benefits?
In each participating golf course, players pay a specific right to the event that golf managers retrocede to the association. At the start, our donations were donated to the Institute of the Brain and the spinal cord in Paris. For three years, we have been in partnership with the Neuro-Bretagne association to which we have already donated more than € 70,000. This association sets up health networks for the management of disabling and scalable neurological diseases in Brittany. I can tell you that Sunday competition at the Golf des Ormes brought us € 8,000 in donations, which is remarkable.
What are the needs for patients?
Thanks to their participation in our competitions, the players help research. There are currently 130 patients with Charcot’s disease, followed at CHU Rennes. And the purchase of medical equipment is essential. An eye control computer is € 23,000, plus training. Our donations are used to finance the creation of a equipment park. So the more golf players participate in our events, the more important our donations are. The next competitions will take place at La Freslonnière, Sunday 1is June ; at the Lancieux golf course, Saturday July 12; At the Golf de Saint-Malo, Sunday July 27 and in Cissé-Blossac, in mid-September.
