Bryson Dechambeau won the individual and team titles on the Liv Golf circuit in Korea, notably succeeding in a 48-foot Oiselet in hole No 17, before signing a round of 66 Sunday, ending the tournament at 197 (-19).
This individual victory was the third of Dechambeau on the Liv circuit, but his first of the season. He resisted Charles Howell III, his teammate with Crushers GC, who made a 63 (-9) to finish second, with two strokes.
“Charles and I have fought a great battle,” said Dechambeau, who won four million dollars. “He has never weakened today. It was fun and we had a great time, but it was intense. Super intense. »»
Dechambeau had not been very lucky during the Sunday rounds lately. He led 36 holes in the last two Liv tournaments – first in Miami, then in Mexico – and was at the top of the 16 -hole Masters ranking from the end, but had not managed to win the great honors.
Howell played the first nine holes on Sunday at -4, reducing Dechambeau’s advance for a single time.
But after hesitating on the first nine holes, Dechambeau concluded with six Oislets. This is what he needed to counter the charge of Howell, who achieved one bird in five consecutive holes, from 11th to 15th, leaving them equally at -17 to three holes from the end.
Howell committed a bug on normal 5 at hole no 16 and finished with a birdie at the last hole, but the rolled 48 feet of Dechambeau for the Oiselet in the 17th, followed by a birdie in the last hole, offered him the victory.
Howell made his first appearance on the podium since his victory in Liv Gold Mayakoba in 2023.
The Crushers were also helped by Paul Casey (67 Sunday) and Anirban Lahiri, who recovered from a disastrous 79 on Saturday to play a round of 72. The team was 20 sous on Sunday as a group and beat Smash GC with nine strokes.
On the individual side, Talor Good has made a 66 (-6) to finish at -14 and third place.
Thomas Pieters (68) and Patrick Reed (65) finished fourth ex aequo, nine states from the leader.
Matthew Wolff was alone in sixth place after a round of 67, 10 strokes of Dechambeau.
Dechambeau will probably join 13 other LIV players at the PGA championship at the Quail Hollow Club from May 15 to 18. Dechambeau finished second in the PGA championship behind Xander Schauffele last year.
