The only 100% Beach Volley club in the region
Created in 2018, Only Beach was born from a long -standing passion, that of Hugo, now president of the club. A year earlier, during a car trip, a somewhat crazy idea crosses his mind: to found the first 100% Beach Volley in Lyon club. Convinced of the potential of this sport in the region, he quickly surrounded himself with enthusiasts ready to fully invest in the adventure. Because if volleyball is today accessible almost everywhere in France, Beach Volley, it still suffers from a glaring lack of infrastructure. To meet this request, Only Beach fought to get his own land, in the heart of Lyon. A fight that bore fruit: on September 21, the city of Lyon inaugurated a new complex of three land in La Croix-Rousse. This major advance allows the club today to pursue its objective: to develop Beach Volley, a sport that is still too little known, by offering training and competitions accessible at all levels.
As for the results, Only Beach continues on his beautiful dynamic, with already several participations in the final stages of the Coupe de France, both in men and in women. This year again, the club confirms its ambitions with two collectives engaged in the competition. The first round took place last weekend: the girls were traveling to Vienna, while the boys played in Meylan. Assessment of this first round: two victories and two qualifications for the second round of the Coupe de France. Case to follow …
A high level competition in the heart of the Rousse Cross
Speaking of competition, this weekend, Only Beach set a challenge that lives up to his ambitions: organize for the first time in its history a 2-1000 female point tournament. You may be wondering: what is a 2-1000 series? It’s simple: it is the third most prestigious tournament in the French circuit. On May 3 and 4, La Croix-Rousse will thus become the scene of a real sporting confrontation, bringing together several of the best French pairs in Beach Volley. It is an ideal opportunity to discover this sport as spectacular as unknown, during a very high level official competition. And for this edition, four Lyonnais pairs – Jade and Mathilde, Estelle and Laura, Chiara and Dana, Manel and Morgane – will proudly wear the colors of the city during this national tournament against the best teams from all over France. So don’t hesitate to come and encourage them! The tournament will spread over two days: Saturday will be played in qualifying matches, followed by the first hen games of the main tournament, while Sunday will be devoted to the eliminatory phases, with the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final.
Beyond the event, this tournament will promote Beach Volley in Lyon and make Club Only Beach shine as well as its new infrastructures on the national scene. Behind this ambitious organization, a passionate team works with determination to make the club an essential reference to the French Beach Volley – a status that it already deserves. It is therefore a first victory for Only Beach, which obviously does not intend to stop there.
