Ingrid Lindblad won the JM Eagle championship to her third departure as a member of the LPGA on Sunday, avoiding a potential extension when Akie Iwai, another recruit on the circuit, committed a bugy on the last hole in the El Caballero Country Club course.
Evolving within the group in front of that of Iwai, Lindblad brought back a final card of 68, four strokes under normal, for a cumulative score of 267, 21 strokes under normal.
The 25-year-old golfer, from Sweden, succeeded six Oiselets including her last at the 11th hole, a normal-5. She completed her round with seven consecutive normal and committed two bugs on the new one to go.
In the aftermath of a third round of 64, Iwai scored a score of 69 Sunday to finish with the winner.
Iwai had caught up with Lindblad at the top of the ranking at 21 strokes under normal thanks to a Oiselet in the 16th hole, a normal-5.
-After a starting blow that led to the left of the aisle, Iwai hit his second blow around a tree and the ball stopped at the entrance to the green. His rolled blow, a distance of 75 feet for an eagle, stopped two inches from the target.
In the 18th, a normal-4, Iwai sent his starting coup to the right, beyond a sandbank and even in high grass.
His next blow, with a distance of 150 yards, jumped near the hole before leaving green and finishing his race in high grass, once again.
His approach has exceeded the hole and Iwai was unable to wedge the roll that would have saved his normal.
Ontario Savannah Grewal, the only Canadian to have qualified for the weekend rounds, completed the tournament in 72nd with a 290 sheet, two strokes above normal.
