The Paris Administrative Court confirmed, Friday, May 9, the ban on a “Antifascist and anti -racist demonstration”, As requested by the Paris police prefect, Laurent Nuñez. It was scheduled for Saturday in the capital and the Emergency Palestine collective, in particular, was to participate.

A court judge of the court, on the other hand, suspended the prohibition of a demonstration on the appeal of the May 9 Committee, a neofascist group of the ultra -right. According to a statement from the administrative court, the judge in summary proceedings said that the prohibition of the demonstration “Antifascist and anti -racist” was not “Not obviously illegal”.
He notably argued that this counter-demonstration was planned for the same course as the demonstration organized by the committee of May 9 and “Would have led to mixing the participants with each of these manifestations whose ideological antagonisms are strong”. The judge also “Given the fact that members of the organizations who supported the demonstration had committed acts of violence in the past”.
The same judge, on the other hand, considered that the prohibition of the two other demonstrations – under the terms of orders published Wednesday by the Paris police headquarters – “A manifestly illegal damage to freedom of demonstration”.
A static gathering with an authorized pantheon
Concerning the demonstration of the committee of May 9, the judge noted that “The same event organized last year had not given rise to any prosecution of demonstrators due to an illicit concealment of their faces or constituent words of appeal to hatred or discrimination.”

The administrative judge considered that the risks of clashes with counter-demonstrators were not “Not established” insofar as the static gathering, called “Antifascist village” took place 1.2 km from the course, Place du Pantheon. Laurent Nuñez, who evoked the risks of public disorders, did not justify according to the administrative court that the organizers of this static rally have been involved in the past in acts of violence.
