A municipal elected representative of the left of the Doubs, Ismaël Boudjekada, was arrested and incarcerated pending his trial planned in July, in particular for the apology of terrorism, said the Paris prosecutor’s office at the France-Presse (AFP) agency, Thursday, May 8.
Confirming information from several media, the prosecution said that Mr. Boudjekada had been “Arrested on Saturday at Mulhouse airport from Saudi Arabia, on the basis of two research mandates issued against him as part of two investigations from the Paris prosecutor’s office, which were brought together”.
“Already convicted of online apology in June 2024”this elected official of opposition to the municipal council of Grand-Charmont, near Montbéliard, was to be tried on Monday in immediate appearance, but the examination of the case was returned to July 3, added the prosecution. “In the meantime, the defendant was placed in pre -trial detention”he said.
Mr. Boudjekada will be tried for numerous offenses chosen against him, from November 2023 to November 2024: for the disclosure of personal information exposing others at a risk, in his account on social network X and the damage of three people – « doxing » – and six infractions of apology for an act of online terrorism, through many messages also disseminated on X.
In October 2024, when the military and political leader of Hamas Yahya Sinouar had been killed, the elected municipal official reacted by writing on x that“A hero is dead” and that “This martyr is one of the luckiest of us”. He also declared, in a video broadcast in August 2024 on X, that the death of 1,218 Israelis, mostly civilians, in the attack on the Palestinian Islamist movement on October 7, 2023, “Was a little deserved” and that “Everyone will be very happy when Hamas has finished the work”.
-His X account, still active and whose last messages date from 1is May, is followed by nearly 30,000 people. It is also followed by more than 380,000 people on the Telegram social network.
Mr. Boudjekada had been reported to the justice of the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau. The Montbéliard prosecutor, Paul-Edouard LALLOIS, had then told AFP that Mr. Boudjekada had not been in the Doubs for a long time.
