essential So far rather spared by the weather, the Tarn-et-Garonne has been crossed by a powerful cellular thunderstorm, this Sunday, May 4, 2025 in the early evening. Diluvian rains first fell in the Beaumont-de-Lomagne sector causing mudslides. In Montauban, big harsh fell shortly before 8 p.m.
Since Friday evening, Météo France had placed the department of Tarn-et-Garonne in yellow alert for a risk of storms locally violent … But it was not until the very end of this extended weekend of May 1 to measure the danger.
Around 6:30 p.m. This Sunday, May 4, 2025, a stormy line began to train in the southwest of the department, on the edge of Gers and Haute-Garonne. The Lomagne hillsides have suffered a real deluge: probably a stationary storm which spilled several tens of water in the municipalities of Beaumont, Escazeaux, Gariès, Commerouger or Vigueron in a few minutes. The motorists who circulated on the departmental road 3 connecting Granada-sur-Garonne to Beaumont-de-Lomagne were faced with more than delicate traffic conditions.

Barely 2 kilometers from the agglomeration of Beaumont, in the descent of Saint-Jean-de-Coquessac, the roadway was invaded by mudslides: a stream, usually harmless, swollen in a few minutes, making the traffic perilous.
-Be careful if you have to take this axis later in the evening, because at 8:30 p.m., the stormy rains still water this sector of Tarn-et-Garonne Frontier de la Haute-Garonne. No wonder the Vigicrues site has decided, this Sunday evening, to place yellow vigilance of rivers such as the Save, the Gimone or even the Arits … But the overflows should be limited, both in the Gers and in the Tarn-et-Garonne.
Later in the evening, the chief town of the department was struck. Struck is the right word because around 7:50 p.m., the sky was brutally obscured above Montauban and a hailless downpour fell for 4 to 5 minutes.

Smaller hailstones, of course, than those observed on Saturday evening in Comminges, especially in Martres-Tolosannes, or even in Béarn, but hard enough to cover the sidewalks and certain residential walls.
Hoping that this hail does not create damage in the orchards of Tarn-et-Garonne: during this period, it is the cherries that are most exposed to the weather since the harvest of the cherries “Moissac region” must start around May 10.
