The teacher of the Lycée Jean-Monnet in Libourne (Gironde) suspected of having invented death threats against him, was presented this Wednesday afternoon at the prosecution. Placed under judicial supervision, she prohibited from appearing in the school and prohibited from carrying out a teaching activity, pending her hearing before the Criminal Court of Libourne, scheduled for October 14, for “false denunciation and aggravated scam in the prejudice of the rector of the Bordeaux Academy. »»
The teacher was placed in police custody on Tuesday. After having reported several times in recent months of racist and threatening letters against him, where it was notably a question of “slaughtering him like a pig”, an investigation had been opened in December 2023. “These threats were first contained in three handwritten letters, one deposited in the hall of the high school on December 4, 2023, the other two slid under the door of a classroom on September 10, 2024 and November 2024 “Recalls the public prosecutor of Libourne, Loïs Raschel, in a statement this Wednesday.
Betrayed by a SIM card
The investigation has taken a completely different round in recent days, when, on April 10, “a student in the final year received a message from an unknown number, in which new death and rape threats were made against the same teacher,” continues the prosecutor. “The important work of investigations carried out by the Libourne research brigade then made it possible to identify the establishment in which the SIM card inserted in the phone used to send the last threat message had been purchased. »»
The operation of the video surveillance of this establishment “allowed the teacher to acquire a card of the mobile operator just before sending the message of April 10. It was also discovered that the phone associated with the SIM card, sold in a business in June 2024, had been settled with a teacher’s bank card. »»
-Rector’s “Stupor”
A graphological expertise was in parallel on the three handwritten letters. She concluded that “the teacher was the editor of the anonymous writings found in the school,” continues the prosecutor. During her police custody, the teacher “recognized only having written the SMS containing the threats and disputed the conclusions of the graphological expertise designating her as the editor of mail”, specifies the magistrate.
After receiving these letters in recent months, many school teachers had exercised their right of withdrawal for several days, in support of this professor. The management of the school had complained and the rectorate had set up regular passages from the police near the establishment. The rector of the Bordeaux Academy expressed this Wednesday in a press release, his “greatest stupor in front of the facts which are accused of the professor” and “renews his support for the educational team of the Jean-Monnet high school in Libourne, shaken for several months”.
A psychological support unit will be set up on Monday, May 5, for the start of the school year, “and offered to teachers and students who would express the need”.
