F1. Being invited to the Renault factory in Viry was like being received in the Vatican

Last weekend at the Grand Prix de France historic, Jean Louis Moncet indicated that Alpine “Choose to take a leap into the unknown.»

By replacing in F1, the Renault engine of the Alpine single -seaters… by the Mercedes engine in 2026!

An incomprehensible choice and decision, made by the big boss of the Renault group to which the Dieppoise Alpine sports firm , the Lucas de Méo… This can partly explained this !!!

Because there are many to scream, to shout in to see in the future an Alpine roll in Formula 1, in GP with a German engine, supplied by Mercedes !!!

A blue alpine ‘Blue from France powered by an engine block from across the Rhine… in the Queen of Motor Sports discipline… We believe frankly… Dreaming and hallucinating!

And let’s not talk about the faithful for decades of the brand, created in 1955 by the late Jean Rèdèlè and who fulminate with anger of this decision …

As crazy on the human and commercial level, not to mention patriotism but like the decision maker – of meo – is … Italian, he is against the side ‘COCORICO…

Nevertheless this remains a serious professional fault !!! CQFD

And the very professional Jean-Louis Moncet to indicate again:

“This is a real problem because the management has chosen to make this jump a little in the unknown and a little sacrificed this jewel that is Viry-Châtillon.”

Viry-Chatillon, the cradle of the history of Renault engines in F1, since the big beginnings of the adventure in GP of the firm in 1977 with the introduction in Formula 1 of the very Turbo engine.

At the time we experienced the inauguration of this factory which was then to, its opening ‘Amédée Gordini, named after the father of the first racing engines of Alpine and Renault in motorsport!

But let’s go back to the friend Moncet who was continuing:

“For history, even for Viry-Châtillon, for us the French who follow the F1, it is a kind of temple where we went, not as we wanted naturally, but we were always well received. There were the great engineers, all those who made the turbos, the V8, the V10s, it was great. ”

And the most experienced French journalists in F1, to conclude and let go of reality …

“Viry-Châtillon, for us, it was Rome, it was the of Formula 1, we learned lots of things, techniques as for the turbo.”

What to add:

That the Sieur de Méo, destroyed the long story, quite simply the formidable adventure of Renault and more recently of Alpine in Formula 1 !!!
