Terrible accident in Sèvremoine (Maine-et-Loire), near Cholet, on the night of Wednesday 7 to Thursday May 8, 2025, shortly before 1 a.m. After making a road trip to the level of a bridge, for reasons still unknown, a vehicle found itself in the Sèvre Nantes, reports Ouest-France.
Upon their arrival, the emergency services noted that the vehicle was entirely immersed in the river. The two parents, who were at the front of the vehicle, managed to get out of it. On the other hand, their 8 -year -old son could not go out.
The child was finally evacuated by an aquatic rescue team from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service in Vendée, in cardio-respiratory arrest. Despite the care provided and its transport at Cholet hospital, the boy died of his injuries.
An investigation opened by the prosecution
Our colleagues from Ouest-France could see that the barrier that was on the deck to protect was completely torn from the accident. It is now below the bridge.
