The Houthis rebels of Yemen and the United States agreed with a ceasefire, said Omani Foreign Affairs minister Badr Al-Boussaïdi, shortly after Donald Trump announced the end of the American strikes against these insurgents supported by Iran.
“Following the recent discussions and contacts led by the Sultanate of Oman with the United States and the authorities concerned in Sanaa (…) The efforts led to a cease-fire agreement between the two parties”announced the Omani minister, adding that“In the future, neither of the two parties will target the other, including American ships, in the Red Sea and in the Strait of Bab Al-Mandeb”. According to the Omani mediator, this ceasefire will allow “Guarantee freedom of navigation and the fluidity of international maritime trade”. In the immediate future, no reaction from the Houthis could be obtained.
A little earlier, Donald Trump said the Houthistes had “Capitulated” and promised that American bombings in Yemen would stop with “Immediate effect”, The same day when Israel struck infrastructure and destroyed the Yemenite capital International airport Sanaa. The bombings would have killed three people, according to the rebels.
