In a post published on its official website, Turn 10 detailed the main axes of this surgical operation: “When they roll in peloton, drivatar often tend to adopt a dynamic trajectory, seeking their own ideal line on the circuit. This frequently leads to mediocre driving performance: collisions, track outlets or maneuvers that a professional pilot would not allow himself. Here is what we now want to see in our Drivatar, to guarantee a solo experience that is Faster, even when they do not evolve on the perfect trajectory.
A priori, the gifted of the crumpled sheet should disappear: the AI will now be prohibited from taking untenable trajectories, act with suicidal behavior or hit the back of the players as thick brutes. The new system will introduce more disciplined behavior, with more logical and thoughtful overruns, and more flexible braking management. The studio even promised a better distribution of difficulty levels, to erase the Yo-Yo effect between too slow AI in normal mode and completely supernatural talents in expert mode. Moreover, Turn 10 also retouched the physics of the collisions and carried out a rebalancing of the penalties system.
