You have surely spotted a small blue circle for some time on your phones if you use WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger. This is actually Meta’s new feature, the group belonging to Mark Zuckerberg: Meta Ai.
This little round therefore symbolizes a conversational robot which provides users with automated responses, generated by artificial intelligence. The answers are designed thanks to Llama, Meta’s language model, WhatsApp’s parent company.
What is this little blue and pink circle?
- Meta Ai has existed on American phones since 2023.
- The tool is being deployed in Europe and in 21 European overseas territories since March 20, 2025.
- Meta AI can refer texts, translate documents, deliver its culinary advice … The number of requests will not be limited, indicates Meta.
- The tool shares the data collected during your interactions.
On Whatsapp:
- It is on WhatsApp that the integration of “Meta Ai” is the most advanced, with the “Circle of the AI” permanently visible, directly on the mail reception screen.
- On WhatsApp, it is located at the bottom on the side when you open the application.
On Instagram:
- On Instagram, you will find the famous blue circle at the top of the messaging section, in the search bar.
On Messenger:
- On Messenger, as on WhatsApp, the small circle is below on the side.
How does it work?
- By clicking on the blue circle, a new window opens in the middle of your personal discussions. You then start a conversation with Meta Ai, who will respond to your requests by dismissing illegal, violent or offensive content.
- You can challenge Meta AI directly at any time in an existing conversation, between two people or in a group. Please note, interactions are visible by all other members of the conversation.
Should we remove this circle and if so, how?
Many users have started to complain about this feature of which they do not necessarily see the usefulness. But can we get rid of Meta Ai?
Meta confirmed it on April 23 at the BBC, the Mark Zuckerberg group offers no options allowing to deactivate or permanently delete Meta AI of the WhatsApp application. The assistant remains an integrated component of the software, without the possibility of withdrawal by the user.
However, some websites like “the Internet user” tell you how to minimize their visibility. If a conversation has been engaged with Meta AI, it can be withdrawn from the main discussion list.
On Android: a long support on Meta Ai’s conversation. You will then have the choice to delete or archive the conversation so as not to see it on the application.
On iPhone: you can also archive or delete the conversation, this will allow you to hide the conversation without deactivating the assistant.
