Nearly 80 runners set off on Sunday, May 4 to storm the 4th edition of the Grand Prix de Lalbenque, organized by Cahors Cyclisme (UFOLEP). The weather, finally mild, allowed the smooth running of the event. The cyclists have traveled the particularly demanding circuit, with a departure on the road to Montdoumerc, before seeing them go up and return to the village by the Route de Fontanes. This circuit was to be traveled between 4 and 10 times depending on the categories.
Among the youngest, Jayson Jacotey (Castelsarrasin) and Clément Nadal (L’Isle-Jourdain) won solo respectively in the minimal and cadet categories. Special congratulations to the 8 young cyclists aged 13 to 16 who clashed in these two categories.
In the 4th category, the victory returned to Jean-François Vessie, of the organizing club, which won with almost 2 minutes on its pursuers, while in the 3rd categories, it was in Sprint that Valentin Lartigue (Guidon Quercynois) has ahead of his escaped companions.
For his part, the runner of the Cadurcian club Julien Vessie flew over the 2nd ᵉ -Category debates with almost 4 minutes ahead of his pursuers. The race of the 1st categories saw the victory of Lionel Vermande (Bretenoux-Biars), which settled the sprint of the victorious escape group in front of the duo of Castelsarrasin runners, Joris Pervieux and Bryan Jacotey.
This successful cycling day, crowned with a hook and was an excellent training, both for the runners and for the organizers, with a view to the Occitanie Regional Championship, which will take place this year in Lalbenque on June 15. For the occasion, the contenders for the various regional titles will borrow a different circuit which will lead them towards Cremps.
