Interview with BBC: Harry misses his target

-

Two days after the interview given from to the BBC, Harry’s continue to flow a lot of ink in the Kingdom. His questioning of the royal house following his lost appeal concerning his security produced the opposite effect of that which he was looking for. While saying: “I don’t know how long it stays in my father. He doesn’t want to talk to me because of this security story, but it would be good to be reconciled.” The very content of his request contains all the elements of the refusal of a possible discussion.

“Bad taste”

For many commentators: “It is not that the king who refuses to speak to him, it is that he cannot. How can we have a private and delicate conversation when we know that she will end up in a in the that follow?” Summarizes Roya Nikka, Royal Journalist respected Times. While his sister Hanna Furness, from Daily Telegraphreports that Harry’s choice to evoke the King’s health was, at , described as “particularly bad taste” by a source from the Buckingham Palace and as for the lack of contact between Harry and his father, “he has just proved why once again.”

The lesson did not carry. After the confessions against Oprah Winfrey, the publication of his autobiography “the substitute”, and too many television interviews, Prince Harry has once again just commented on his father’s state of health, the subject on which no one has the slightest official information. This choice to comment on a subject that is a matter of confidentiality, the most important secret linked to privacy, is the perfect demonstration by the example of the impossibility for the royal entourage to trust the Duke of Sussex.

On the rest of his relations with the Windsor, Harry also shoots himself in the foot. “Of course, some members of my will never forgive me for having written a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for many things. But I would really like to reconcile with my family,” he explains to the BBC. Harry does not share any ounce of remorse or regret, of having accused his brother and of having had very violent words towards her mother-in-law, Queen Camilla. No feeling of contrition crosses him, a little like a teenager, who after destroying his room, refuses to apologize while explaining that he wants to come home.

“I know the names”

Harry does not stop there. He questions the royal house: “I know the names of the people involved in this process.” He said. He even refers to Princess Diana: “The institutions that abused my mother … and who continue to encourage hatred towards me, my wife and even our ”. According to Harry, the monarchical institution is behind the refusal of its protection when it is on soil. He even explains that this refusal was intended to do so, he and his wife, stay in the royal house !!! However, as Elisabeth II wrote in January 2020 after the Sandringham summit: “My family and I fully support Harry and Meghan’s desire to a life (…) even if we would have preferred that they remain full -time active members (…) We respect and understand their wish to live a more independent family life”. All this seems forgotten. But, as the sovereign also wrote at the time of the Duke’s departure and the Duchess of Sussex, “often the memories vary”.

On the side of British public opinion, Harry certainly failed to bring her back on his side. There too, as for family reconciliation, the objective is missed. A YouGov Launched after the interview with the BBC, reveals that 46% of those questioned estimated that the royal family had treated “precisely” Harry. 23% think the opposite and 31% do not know. To conclude, a source declares to the Times: “Harry sees a conspiracy whenever a decision does not go in his direction. He is like a casino who cannot leave the table, he redoubles his effort. Even when he talks about reconciliation, his words are tinged with threat and anger.”
