An ex-correctional agent targeted by several charges of a sexual nature and held for four months was under conditions on Tuesday, notably for a deposit of $ 25,000.

Steve Pelletier, 54, had been held since his arrest on December 18.

He faces a total of 12 charges of a sexual nature with regard to three complainants, two of whom were minor at the time of the alleged facts.

Added to this, the counts of hindrance to justice, possession of a license weapon as well as the negligent storage of a firearm.

The facts alleged against Pelletier, who worked for several years at the establishment of detention in Quebec, stretched over a long period.

The alleged victim would have been sexually assaulted from 1999 to 2008, while the offense would go from 2011 to 2021 for another. The third would have been attacked by the accused in 2008.

The facts put into proof within the framework of the on release are however referred to by an order for non-publication in anticipation of a possible .

Caution et conditions

Despite the gravity of the accusations, Pierre Lortie was convinced by the guarantees proposed by the defendant’s lawyer, Me Marco Robert. He thus ordered Steve Pelletier’s release.

However, the latter is committed to paying $ 20,000 in the event of non-compliance with the conditions. His brother was committed in the same way for an amount of $ 5,000, just like a friend for $ 1000.

The alleged will be subject to serious conditions by the end of legal proceedings. In particular, he will have to respect a curfew and he will not be able to contact the complainants.

He will also have to submit to any therapy or follow -up proposed by an indigenous parajudicial speaker, Pelletier with his as a member of the First Nations.

His file will return to court on June 19 for the rest of the procedures.
