
The Brussels Assize Court chose six men and six women on Monday afternoon to compose the jury that will judge Michaël Pindeville, 22 years old, and Ahmed El Batouti, aged 20, on Thursday morning. In addition, the Court retained five alternate jurors, three women and two men. The two accused will have to answer for having struck and tortured until death Yacine M’rabet for a drug case in March 2022 in Brussels.

The Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police area and the emergency services were called on March 8, 2022 around 6:00 p.m. for an unconscious man discovered on a sidewalk on rue des Visitandines in Brussels, in the Marolles district. The victim is transferred to Saint-Pierre hospital, where she died two days later. The investigation made it possible to identify the victim as being Yacine M’rabet, aged 46. This man lived in an apartment on the 8th floor of the building in front of which he was discovered, rue des Visitandines. She was also able to learn that he consumed abundantly cannabis and cocaine, but also that he played the role of “nanny” by providing a network of traffickers her apartment as a place of drug storage. The investigation revealed that the narcotics were hidden in a safe inside the accommodation, of which only the “managers” of traffic had access. The investigators carried out numerous hearings of witnesses among the relatives of the victim and the inhabitants of his building. Between the end of June and late July 2022, they arrested six people, including Michaël Pindeville and Ahmed El Batouti. The DNA survey notably showed that these two were present during the abuse inflicted on the victim. The first was charged with torture that led to death and placed under arrest warrant. The second, which was then minor, was placed in a public youth protection institution (PPI), a closed section, by the Youth Judge. This one then divel in the case of Ahmed El Batouti.
