Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital: Quebec unlocks the funds to launch the work

Under pressure, the government of Quebec unlocks the funds necessary to launch the reconstruction of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR) this year.

The $ 19 billion budget allocated to the Quebec infrastructure plan (PQI) will be reviewed to allow other projects to be launched.

Radio-Canada was able to confirm the information reported by The Presse.

This process would make it possible to 85 million for the preparatory phase of the site of the Montreal hospital, which notably includes the construction of the parking of the establishment.

At the end of March, the government had however announced that it was still postponing the start of work in this health facility which serves nearly 500,000 people.

The pressure has become strong in recent weeks because the examples of decrepitude of the health establishment have hit the headlines and fueled criticism from the opposition parties.

The government has, among other things, on the federal government to mop part of the invoice.

This reorganization of funds should also make it possible to keep around thirty project offices alive which are in the planning phase, so that they are ready to be launched at the right time.

These solutions will be presented to the Council of Ministers this week.
