The date of the ballot is not yet known, but already, political parties are active on the ground for the by -election in the district of Arthabaska, left vacant last March. Both the head of the Parti Québécois (PQ), Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, and the leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec, Éric Duhaime, went there on Sunday, hoping to seduce the voters.
Hoping to become “the voice of another Quebec”, Éric Duhaime formalized his candidacy for the Conservative Party of Quebec on Sunday in the by -election in the district of Arthabaska, thus trying to carve out a place at the Red Salon.
At a press conference, he promised to get Quebec out of the carbon market so that the price of gasoline decreases, to encourage the construction of houses to promote access to property, to soften the regulations for farmers and to abolish 20,000 civil servant positions.
Mr. Duhaime also promised to relaunch the enlargement project of the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital of Arthabaska, in Victoriaville. This project valued at $ 360 million had been paused in mid-April by Quebec due to a lack of public funding.

The district of Arthabaska was left vacant by the former independent and ex-caquist deputy Eric Lefebvre, who decided to jump into federal politics last March. Having become a candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada, Mr. Lefebvre was elected in the constituency of Richmond-Arthabaska in the federal elections of April 28.
According to electoral law, the government must order the holding of a by -election no later than six months from the vacancy of a seat, and Mr. Duhaime believes that the by -election should take place sooner than late
just like the Pins. We hope that the Prime Minister [François Legault] will have the elegance to do it in the coming days
he added in a press scrum.
