The former journalist made the jump in politics after managing the cabinet of Marie-Claude Bibeau, then that of Elisabeth Brière. She argued that this experience had introduced a passion to federal policy

I first want to sincerely thank Marie-Claude Bibeau, she also mentioned from the outset during her speech following the announcement of her victory. Throughout my campaign, people told me about Marie-Claude [Bibeau]of his presence, of his knowledge of the field. […] It was a privilege to have it as a mentor and it is a privilege to take it in Compton-Stanstead.
Everyone reminded me that I had large shoes to put on. Yes, and I hope to do it with as much commitment and presence as [Marie-Claude Bibeau] did it.
Liberal candidate Élisabeth Brière also applauded the announcement of Marianne Dandurand’s victory since her gathering of Sherbrooke.
A second defeat for Nathalie Bresse
The Liberal faced the blocist Nathalie Bresse, a figure known in municipal politics who was trying to make the federal jump for a second time. The latter had started her political career in 2005 as a municipal councilor of Ascot Corner, before being at the head of the municipality from 2010 to 2021, then from 2022 to today.
-I am still surprised, admits Nathalie Bresse. It’s a little disappointing, but at the same time, throughout the campaign, it was very difficult. It was all the time who will be against Trump, the media were always on who will be the one who will be able to be against Mr. Trump. The candidate believes that citizens are not sufficiently educated on the way in which decisions are taken in the House.
People have chosen the leader they wanted to have, not the candidates of their constituency, she argues. It is not the mayors, the Prime Ministers who decide. It is really the room that votes and decides. It is a little disappointing that people are not aware.
The neo-democratic party presented the candidacy of Valérie Laliberté, while Sébastien Tremblay was trying to delight the siege under the banner of the Greens. Jacques Painchaud, of the Conservative Party of Canada, was also a candidate in this constituency.
