The CNA is the cultural project manager of the Canada Pavilion in Osaka

Instructed by the team of the National Arts Center (CNA) in Ottawa, this programming explores the cultural mosaic of Canada with the presentation of many events and shows to here.

It is no surprise that we say that we want to highlight the Canadian heritage, creativity and talent during the 2025 Expo which, let us recall, will end on October 13.

An outraged note

Music, dance, theater, cooking and cinema will therefore be on the marquise of the Canada Pavilion during the six months that the Universal Exhibition will last.

The traditional music group from Petite-Nation, in Outaouais, is made up of André-Michel Dambremont, guitar, bass and voice, Félix Sabourin, accordion, podorythmia and voice, Rémi Pagé, violin, mandoline, voice and podorythmia, Samuel Sabourin, Violin, Banjo Tenor, Mandolin and Voice as well as STOLS GAGNON-SABOURIN.

Their visit to Osaka will kick off their summer tour which will pass through , , Germany, Finland and France, all in July.

The Devils will offer six concerts to the Canada Pavilion, from May 17 to 22.

Since its training in 2015, the group has given more than 200 concerts around the and represented Quebec in many international markets.

Canada in value

The Canada Pavilion is in the area Inspirefrom Expo 2025.

The pavilion represents a mixture of the raw power of nature, the warm character and the great opening of Canada in the face of other cultures.

Evoking Canadian glacial formations, the outer facade is cold and icy, but as soon as you enter the pavilion, you feel the warm character that defines Canada.

Organized every five years in different places in the world, universal exhibitions are a global showcase of human ingenuity, culture and entertainment.

Nations come together to share their ideas and inspire collaboration and in this sense, Expo 2025 in Japan looks at global challenges and thus becomes a rallying place to find innovative solutions for the future.

Under the theme Design the society of the future, imagine our life of Expo 2025 focuses on the to be achieved to achieve the Nations sustainable development objectives.

Japan will also introduce the concept of “living laboratory of peoples” to develop solutions to global .

The 2025 Expo awaits more than 28 million visitors in Osaka, thanks to the participation of more than 160 countries and international organizations.

The CNA orchestra on tour

As part of his tour which will bring him to South Korea and Japan, from May 25 to June 8, the Orchestra of the National Arts Center (OCNA) led by the Maestro Alexander Shelley will stop in Osaka to offer the last two concerts of this tour which will have led it in the Korean cities of Busan, Gumi and Seoul as well as to Tokyo and TSU.

“Far from being limited to a series of concerts in legendary rooms, this tour is focused on cultural exchanges and community activity,” said Chef Shelley. The orchestra wishes more than everything to learn from its hosts, explore and make known its own traditions and fill up on experiences that will inspire and enrich our whole for another generation. ”

In Osaka, the OCNA will offer an concert which will underline the 100th birthday of the pianist and composer of Canadian jazz Oscar Peterson, , June 6, on the site of Expo 2025. For the occasion, the orchestra will be accompanied by the Oscar Petersonnial Quartet.

Together, they will perform several classics of the jazz composer, but also a new arrangement of the play Trail Of Dreams which will be presented as a world premiere. Parts from the Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Strauss repertoire will be added to the concert.

During its visit to Japan, the orchestra will offer concerts to the legendary Suntory Hall in Tokyo as well as to the Center des Arts de Mie in Tsu and the Symphony Hall in Osaka.

The program proposed by the OCNA begins with Listening Underwater Canadian and Japanese composer of third generation, Keiko Devaux, whose is making its international debut.

German prodigy pianist Olga Scheps joins the orchestra to interpret the Concert pour floor no 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The program ends with the Symphony no 5 The Beethoven.

In South Korea

The passage of the ocna to South Korea will represent a for the orchestra which is part of a context of Corée-Canada 2024-2025 cultural exchanges which will be concluded in Seoul.

The OCNA will first stop in Busan and Gumi to finish its journey in Seoul for a series of concerts whose program is made up of contemporary Canadian classics and music.

Korean pianist Yeol Eum her joins the orchestra for the Piano concerto in major soil from Ravel. The concert also features the symphonic poem Don Juan of Strauss and the Symphony n ° 5 The Beethoven.

One of the highlights of the program will be Dark Nights, Bright Stars, Vast Universe of Canadian composer Kelly-Marie Murphy. The work offers a modern perspective on Don Juan.
