Gabonese international striker Aaron Boupendza died Wednesday at the age of 28 of a fall in a building in China where he lived, the Gabonese football Federation announced.
The international “has just left us following a fall on the 11th floor of his building in China where he played for the Zhejiang FC,” said FEGAFOOT on his X account.
“At 28, Boupendza leaves the memory of a very great striker who made an impression during the CAN in Cameroon,” she added in a message accompanied by a photo of the player. In 2022, the “panthers” had been eliminated in the round of 16 of the Pan -African competition by Burkina Faso.
“FEGAFOOT and the large Gabonese football family present their sincere condolences to their biological family,” she concluded.
“It is with immense sadness that I learn the tragic disappearance of Aaron Boupendza, talented center-forward that honored Gabonese football”, for his part reacted the president elected Brice Oligui Nguema on X.
According to Gabon 24 State chain, the player died in the city of Hangzhou, in the east of the country. “The exact circumstances of this drama are still vague,” said the chain, and an “investigation would be underway to establish the facts”.
Trained at the Girondins de Bordeaux (France), the international (35 selections, 8 goals) first evolved in France (Pau, Gazélec Ajaccio, Tours).
