The United States and Ukraine agreed on a treaty concerning the exploitation of the country’s natural resources. An Agreement for which President Trump has put huge pressure on Ukraine, even going so far as to suspend the military support of his country in the war engaged by Russia.
The Ukrainian Parliament ratified the “historic” agreement on Thursday with the United States on the exploitation of the country’s natural resources, signed after weeks of stormy negotiations, announced the Ukrainian Minister of the Economy.
“The Ukrainian Parliament has ratified the historic economic partnership agreement between Ukraine and the United States“Said Minister Ioulia Svyrydenko on X.
This document concerns the extraction of minerals, oil and gas in Ukraine, which has been facing the Russian invasion for more than three years.
However, it does not include security guarantees for kyiv, which nevertheless insisted on this condition.
-Earlier in the day, Ms. Svyrydenko had said that this agreement will allow Ukraine to obtain new military aid from the administration of Donald Trump, who is trying to end the war.
The bilateral agreement was signed at the end of April after weeks of tensions between kyiv and Washington, who had culminated in a verbal game between presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval office in late February.
