On the occasion of world Red Cross day and the Red Crescent, May 8, 2025
Excellency, ladies, gentlemen, partners and friends of the Guinean Red Cross, dear compatriots;
Like 191 national companies around the world, the Guinean Red Cross is celebrating today, World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.
This day is celebrated each year to pay tribute to the brave volunteers and the staff of the movement always at work to save human lives, promote well -being, protect the dignity of the most vulnerable populations with impartiality.
It is also a highlight to honor the commitment, bravery and solidarity of millions of volunteers and humanitarian workers around the world.
This year, under the theme “on the side of humanity”, we reaffirm our oath to be alongside those who suffer, who are marginalized, who need help and protection.
Since its creation, the Guinean Red Cross has been held at the forefront of humanitarian, natural or health crises, thanks to the flawless commitment of its brave volunteers and partners. You are the faces of humanity in action. You help, you restore dignity, you inspire hope where sometimes there is little left.
To be “on the side of humanity” is to act without discrimination. It is to choose neutrality, impartiality and independence, these fundamental principles which found our international movement. It is to refuse to look away at suffering. It is showing courage, empathy and innovation to meet the humanitarian challenges of today and tomorrow.
Through our actions throughout the national territory, we reaffirm that humanity is our cause, our vocation and our collective responsibility.
On this symbolic day, I want to greet and sincerely thank:
Our brave volunteers, real heroes of everyday life,
Our national and international partners such as the ICRC, the International Federation of Red Cross and the Red Crescent Societies, the French Red Cross, the Italian Red Cross,…. for their confidence and support for the CRG,
Our national and local authorities for their support,
Our communities, which inspire us by their resilience.
Dear compatriots,
-While our country and the world continue to face many challenges such as pandemics, natural or provoked disasters, migratory crises and the effects of climate change, the Guinean Red Cross reaffirms its unshakable commitment to remain “on the side of humanity”.
To achieve its humanitarian objectives, the Guinean Red Cross needs all of you to be efficient in its resilience and community development projects; To be more effective in operations, in order to be always more efficient in its complementary role of auxiliary of the public authorities.
Ladies, gentlemen,
It is for me the opportunity to thank His Excellency the President of the Republic of Guinea, the army general Mamadi Doumbouya and, through him the whole government for his constant support to the Guinean Red Cross in the accomplishment of his humanitarian mission.
