Speaking at the end of their meeting, Mr. Pavel said that his country supported Ukraine’s plans for lasting peace.

“By its constructive approach, Ukraine has clearly shown that it was ready. Any peace agreement must however be an agreement in which international law is not questioned, and to which we can trust”he said on the social media platform X.

For his part, Mr. Zelensky thanked the Czech Republic for supporting the EU membership efforts deployed by his country. “This year, we are ready to embark on the point sets to negotiate”he said on X.

He also praised the Czech initiative to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine outside the EU, an initiative that turned out to be effective. “We hope that cooperation will be just as effective this year; a delivery of 1.8 million shells is expected”he said.

The two leaders also mentioned the creation of a Ukraino-Techero training school in order to train Ukrainian F-16 F-16 pilots outside of Ukraine. Mr. Zelensky confirmed that the two parties agreed on this plan, and that the Czech Republic would help Ukraine to make it happen.

During the visit, representatives of the two countries also signed a memorandum on cooperation in mental care, according to the National Czech Mental Health Institute.
