On the night of Saturday, April 12, April 13, April 13, the Thuru fixed radar installed on the D725 (Châtellerault-Lencloître route) was the target of an act of vandalism.
The aircraft was discovered ravaged by the flames around 1:30 a.m. It is completely out of order to rage. It is destroyed and will have to be replaced.

An act of revenge?
According to the first elements, the protective metal cabinet was visibly twisted and the fire put inside, at the back of the radar: the cinemometer, the electronics of the shooting device or the armored windows are charred. No trace of fuel was visible on site on Sunday morning.
A complaint must be filed. A gendarmerie investigation has been opened to find out if it is an act of revenge of an unhappy motorist to have been flashed (the gendarmes will have no trouble finding all the vehicles whose registration plates have been flashed in the hours and days preceding the fire …) or a premeditated gesture of night racing enthusiasts. km/h.
According to the law, the degradation of a radar is punishable by 5 years’ imprisonment and € 75,000 fine.
Everything burned and melted.

Two other devices burnt down in the past
This radar, like others in the Châtelleraudais, had already been covered in the past with brown adhesive tape or yellow plastic carrying the claim of rural coordination but never targeted by a fire.
The fire of the Thuré radar is an isolated fact. No other Châtelleraudais apparatus was hit that night. On the other hand, two other devices were the target of a voluntary fire a few years ago: the Tourelle radar of the departmental 725 between La Roche-Posay and Châtellerault (January 2023) and the ex-Radar of Availles-en-Châtellerault (January 2019).
