Former American vice-president Kamala Harris denounced on Wednesday an “selfish” exercise of power by American president Donald Trump. It was the first major discourse of the Democrat after her defeat in the November presidential election.
Kamala Harris, who hesitates according to the American press between a new candidacy for the White House in 2028 or attempt to be elected governor of California in 2026, called on the Americans not to be “fooled” by the apparent “chaos” at the start of the mandate of the Republican billionaire.
Beyond its multiple Louvoyments on Customs Duties, Donald Trump unrolls a “program that has been developed for decades” by the Conservatives, she hammered. This program aims “to reduce public education […] To reduce the size of the government, then to privatize its services. All this by granting tax reductions to the richest, “she summed up.
She denounced a “narrow and selfish vision of [Etats-Unis d’]America, where we punish those who tell the truth, where we promote the faithful, where we take advantage of our power and where we let others fend for themselves “.

“The courage is contagious”
The first 100 days of Donald Trump’s second term were marked by more than 140 presidential decrees, many of which were blocked in court.
The septuagenarian notably attacked his political adversaries, widely publicized his expulsions of immigrants in an irregular situation and tried to dismantle the staff of the federal administration, with the help of his billionaire Elon Musk ally.
After having made a low profile for six months following her defeat, Kamala Harris was the guest of Emerge, an association encouraging women to engage in politics. She considered that Donald Trump’s attempts to maximize the authority of the President to run in the United States the risk of a “constitutional crisis”.
“If this happens […] The only power that should not fail is the voice of the people “.” President Trump, his administration and their allies bet on the idea that fear can be contagious, “she observed.
But “fear is not the only thing that is contagious. Courage is contagious,” she said, welcoming that of judges, academics and ordinary citizens who oppose the government.
