DS has just presented a new model specially prepared for the President of the Republic. Its particularity? It is 100 % electric. But he is not made in France!
DS remains faithful to Emmanuel Macron. We remember that the head of state had descended the avenue des Champs-Elysées with a DS 7 crossback during his inauguration in 2017. The president then had the right to the DS 7 Elysée, the restyled variant, with a custom-extended body.
And here it is aboard another DS, a model that has just been presented and is not yet in concessions, DS n ° 8. The brand has once again created a model specially for the President of the Republic, on the occasion of the commemorations of May 8, 1945. It is obviously a nice publicity stunt for the manufacturer.Read tooWith its new electric car, DS compares to Bentley
The car, officially named “DS n ° 8 presidential”, therefore has some specificities, starting with the Sapphire blue shade, the same as that of the DS 7 Elysée. Custodes are painted in black.

One of the aesthetic peculiarities of DS n ° 8 has also been revised: the illuminated grille is here in blue-white-red! There are also tricolor badges on the bodywork, and a fading holder at the ends of the front shield.
The notable fact with this presidential vehicle is that it is 100 % electric. The classic DS n ° 8 claims a mixed cycle autonomy of 750 km. But it will certainly be impacted by the armor.
DS indicates that the car was made with the help of several French craftsmen and partners. For example, Lison de Caunes workshops shaped the straw marquetry affixed on the front of the dashboard as well as on the front doors. The dream blue satin panels are signed metaphors.
But what the manufacturer does not say is that the DS n ° 8 is not made in France! It will indeed be assembled in Italy, in order to rationalize the use of Stellantis factories.
The car will be exposed to the public during the next edition of the “Revelations” fair, a trades Biennale, of which DS Automobiles is a partner, which will be held from May 21 to 25, 2025 at the Grand Palais.
