It is now possible to shop directly on Chatgpt, even if the act of purchase still requires going through a third -party site, Openai announced on Monday.

This new feature scrambles the border between artificial intelligence interface (AI) generative and search engine even more.
On request in everyday language, Chatgpt offers product ideas with a brief description, a summary of consumer notices and links to merchant sites to make the final purchase.
The service, available in the United States since Monday, will be gradually accessible to all the markets where Chatgpt is present, including for users who do not have a chatgpt account.
Initially limited to a database, Chatgpt has integrated internet content into its results, approaching Google’s search engine.
With the integration of shopping, Openai competes in a little more frontal with the alphabet subsidiary.
“Doing online shopping can be tedious,” said Openai in a statement.
“Instead of scrolling the results pages”, a clear reference to Google, “you can simply start a conversation. Ask additional questions, compare products and focus on the essentials, all in natural language. ”
OPENAI for the moment limits the range of fashionable products, beauty, house and electronics, “then widen the offer according to returns”.
To counter the emergence of competitors’ assistants, Google joined its own, Gemini, in its search engine. It offers an answer presented at the top of the page and generated by AI, before the usual links to relevant websites.
According to the Specialized TechCrunch site, OpenAi will not receive a percentage of online trade income generated via Chatgpt.
“Research has become one of our most popular features and displaying the strongest growth,” said Openai, who claims more than a billion research during the past week.
The results produced “are selected independently and are not advertisements”, specifies the company, marking its difference with Google, which offers the possibility of paying to improve its position in the results of a search.
Openai will soon add memory to shopping, which will give Chatgpt more context in terms of consumer tastes and needs.
