Calling for the solidarity of the wealthiest retirees, this is a “taboo” that seems ready to blow up François Bayrou and his government. While the Prime Minister has set at 40 billion euros the amount of the sums to be found for the 2026 budget, all without increasing the tax rate of households (excluding exceptional contribution from the highest income) and businesses – in the name of their necessary competitiveness on a global market in the middle of chaos -, the idea of asking for an effort from retirees who have the means seems to have made its way.
The government would thus plan to return to the 10 %tax reduction, granted to retirees to lighten their taxes. What to save “About 4 to 5 billion euros”, advanced the Minister of Industry and Energy on Tuesday April 15, Marc Ferracci. Concretely, underlines Sylvain Denis, honorary president of the National Federation of Associations of Retirees, the lifting of this abatement would make taxable around 500,000 retirees which were not until then and could increase the
