From this Monday, April 21, motorists will be able to circulate up to 130 km/h on AFSLUITDIJK with our Dutch neighbors, in accordance with a decision by the Minister of Transport Barry Madlener (PVV, Party for Liberty). This route is on an anti-injundance barrier in the Netherlands between the provinces of Northern Holland and the frieze for 30 km long with also a cycle path between the highway and the highest point.
This measure is part of the Minister’s desire to extend this limitation to several axes of the country. Other sections should follow very quickly: a portion of the A6 motorway as well as an A7 segment will also benefit from this new regulations, this Monday or in the days that follow.
The initial announcement of this increase in maximum speed was made in December, but the implementation remained to be specified. Are notably concerned: AFSLUITDIJK between Stevinsluizen and Lorentzsluizen, the A7 section between the Winschoten node and the German border, as well as the portion of the A6 between Lelystad-Noord and Ketelbrug.
The Minister recalls, however, that this increase in speed will not be effective until the appropriate signaling is installed on the axes concerned.
