Tarbes-Basket Landes: unpublished shock in an atmosphere of fire
For the first time in their history Basket Landes and the Tarbes Gespe Bigorre meet in the final of the French championship: it is an event that gives a nice spotlight on the Adour basin. The atmosphere promises to be exceptional.
In recent years, Basket Landes has chained performance. The Montois club will play its 2nd consecutive final, after winning the first title in its history in 2021. It also won two French Cups in 2022 and 2023 (against Tarbes). For its part, the TGB has struggled to return to its best level in recent years: French champions in 2010, then finalists in 2018, the Bigourdanes came down in LF2 in 2015.
On paper, Landaises leave favorite for this final which will be played on 2 winning matches. By finishing in 2nd place in the regular season, they will have the advantage of the field, with a return match at the Mitterrand area, but also the beautiful if necessary. With the atmosphere of fire ensured by its supporters, it is a big asset.
The Bigourdanes have thwarted all the forecasts since their difficult qualification (8th in the regular season), with two incredible exploits outside, after losing the first leg at home. It was the Armada de Bourges, a favorite hyper of the competition, which paid the price, then Charleville-Mézières which had just won the Coupe de France.
So, the final is completely open, with another issue: the winners will win a ticket for the Euroligue.
The first match will take place at the Adour quay in Tarbes, this Saturday, May 10 at 3 p.m. The return is scheduled at Espace Mitterrand in Mont-de-Marsan, Tuesday, May 14 at 9:10 p.m. The possible beautiful will be played at the Landaises, Friday, May 16 at 9 p.m.
