Eric Sarrazin will no longer be president of the Girondin ambitions next season. This decision, which he had taken a few weeks ago, he will announce it on Saturday at the end of the last reception of the hopes of Lattes-Montpellier.
Why did you decided to leave the presidency of Girondin ambitions?
As I recalled by email, I gave 25 years of volunteer with the vice-president of the CSP Limoges alongside Frédéric Forté, then in Feytiat that I had taken from N3 to N1 and which is this season in L2, and finally to the JSA Bordeaux, where I was the general manager of the SASP of Boris Diaw and where I took over for six years. I arrived in Villenave four years ago during the covid with an agreement with Frédéric Tauzin with the aim of creating a female team with a professional or semi-pro vocation to play above the N2 and this is the case. Three seasons after, with two titles (2024) of French and New Aquitaine champion in Pomarez, we largely ensured the maintenance in N1.
Is this choice also that of personal observations?
-There is the desire to take advantage of my recent retirement from Engie to taste privileged moments with my family and in particular my grandchildren … and the impression of not going higher in the financial level where with a budget of 300,000 euros which although with our 66 partners was the smallest in the hen and I still do not see how to go beyond … in comparison, the Martigues club which looks like the last feat, Receives this same amount just from its municipality, which is not the case here where the region gives us the twentieth, not to mention the department whose balance remains to be confirmed.
How do you see next season?
Since it was recruitments at the time, the Saint-Delphin club to which I gave the elements, should take over the reins, perhaps under another name. A large part of our players, except two of them, would remain, as manager Mathieu Peymirat who has been in place for two seasons. Honestly, I think that female basketball which was in a state of grace in the 90s and at the highest level with the Waiti Chantecler, has its place in Bordeaux but the wishes, if they exist, should coordinate after the excellent results of girls at the Olympic Games.
The match
