How to dive into a Van Gogh painting? It is the slightly crazy bet that François Lassere, bronze sculptor, and his daughter Elsa McCallister, artist-artist, both installed in the heart of Bourbonnais. Together, they gave life to a life -size reproduction of the famous “Chambre in Arles” in an Airbnb apartment located in Charroux (Allier), classified among the most beautiful villages in France.

“We placed ourselves in the exact axis of the table to find the right perspective. Then, each object we have chosen to stick as close as possible to the original. Six months of meticulous were necessary, ”they confide, smiling.

Total immersion in the universe of the master

Nothing has been left to chance: the furniture is painted by hand, the textured walls evoke the brushstroke of the master, and the atmosphere faithfully restores the universe of the Dutch painter. The , while trompe-l’oeil, is striking.

“More than just accommodation, we offer total immersion in the universe of Van Gogh. To my knowledge, it does not exist anywhere else in this form, ”says François Lassere. To extend the experience, the cottage houses a mini-museum dedicated to the painter, with documents, reproductions and interactive devices.

On the comfort side, everything was thought in the smallest detail: “I even made a custom King size bed”, laughs the artist, without sacrificing modern comfort: equipped kitchen, bathroom, terrace and discreetly concealed in a table-table.

Open for a few days, the Van Gogh room already attracts art lovers and curious people passing through the region. An unprecedented parenthesis, where art can be lived from the inside.
