It is with a heavy heart that Maïwenn announced the news to her 100,000 subscribers on Instagram, Tuesday April 2, 2024. “Jean-Yves Le Fur, the love of my life, the father of my son Diego, the father-in-law of my daughter Shanna, left Sunday morning,” wrote the director of Polisse. The businessman died at the age of 59, following a long illness: pancreatic cancer. He died at the American hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, on the night of Sunday March 31 to Monday April 1, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones: it was “in the arms” of Maïwenn and their son that he breathed his last, also accompanied by his big brother Frédérick, and “Jaky, his lifelong friend”. It is on behalf of everyone that the actress finally concluded her message: “We are all devastated”. As a reminder, certain rumors had emerged in the celebrity press in 2023, claiming that Maïwenn and Jean-Yves Le Fur had started a new romance, twenty years after their separation. Neither of them had, however, officially confirmed this information, the director having only mentioned her companion without naming him during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, on the occasion of the release of her film Jeanne du Barry.
