The humpback whale, measuring on average 16 meters long and weighing 30 tonnes, is returning to our North Sea waters, reports The Newspaper. One of them was observed off our coast on December 10. “Humpback whale spotted with absolute certainty near offshore wind farm“, explains biologist Jan Haelters. More and more common observations: “In recent years, we have averaged one or two reliable sightings per year, even though we had not seen the animal for decades before. […] A few years ago, we saw one off Knokke, near two surfers.”
