As part of the 100 Works that tell the story of the climate operation, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris will lend around fifty works to around thirty museums across France. Among them, the Museum of Fine Arts in Tours will be one of the temporary exhibition venues for these works, which will be hung on the walls of the Tours building between March and July 2025.
Courbet, Monet and Delacroix
To raise awareness of climate issues, these are works created between the mid-19e century and the beginning of the 20e century which were chosen. And for good reason: it was from this period that the industrial revolution accelerated, with the arrival of coal, the railway and large industrial areas, which profoundly modified the French landscapes. Among the selected artists are Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet, and Eugène Delacroix.
This announcement was made on January 21, 2025 by the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, and the director of the Musée d'Orsay, Sylvain Amic. Scientists specializing in climate issues were also involved in this operation.
