After becoming aware of this information, Matthias Renault, RN deputy for the third constituency of the Somme, announced in a message on
“This system could amount to extortion”
“By decision of the Algerian customs services, the Grand Mosque of Paris is designated as the sole operator of ritual halal certification for a large list of products exported from France to Algeria, established by the Algerian Ministry of Industry, very au- beyond religious recommendations on the matter”writes the parliamentarian.
Before continuing: “As certification is chargeable, the system thus put in place, obligatory for export, is akin to a customs duty on export, hindering competition.” And to add that “this system could constitute extortion within the meaning of article 312-1 of the penal code”. If these facts are proven, this offense is punishable by seven years of imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 euros.
