near Lyon, a 38 m² apartment reveals all its potential without breaking the budget
Welcome to interior designer Justine Martoni’s first apartment. Once the keys to this Lyonnais canut were collected, she was able to give free rein to her imagination and the result is worth the detour!

It is in the heart of Caluire-et-Cuire, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, not far from , that this apartment of 38 m² on the ground, and 22 m² on the mezzanine is located. Perched on the 4th floor of a canut dating from 1870, it enjoyed plenty of light, thanks to two large windows. Occupied by the previous owner for more than twenty years, the premises were healthy and offered a quality base for having fun while respecting a tight budget. For the record, Justine saw her grandmother’s last name on the mailbox during her first visit and said to herself: “this is a sign that I cannot ignore”. As a bonus, she immediately fell in love with the wooden ceiling typical of this type of construction. Steeped in history, this renovation was the starting point of his activity as an interior designer, and a first project is never forgotten!

Beautiful volumes to magnify with a surprise to boot!

Justine’s objective was clear: to work the material in order to create something warm and minimalist too. Carried out in collaboration with an electrician and her metalworker dad, who helped her a lot, particularly to install the new staircase and the glass roof, the work did not take more than a month and Justine immediately felt at home. Highlight of the site: the discovery of a stone wall hidden under a layer of coating which, once exposed, adds all the charm to the project. Visit here!

  • Duration of work : 1 month
  • Renovation budget : 10,000 euros, excluding stairs and glass roof
