Alexis Juret is indicted for murder, after the disappearance of his wife Laure Zacchello last June. The courts examined his request for release this Tuesday.

For three hours, this Tuesday, December 31, the investigating chamber of (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) examined the request for release of Alexis Juret. This 43-year-old man is detained in Mont-de-Marsan prison and indicted for the murder of his wife Laure Zacchello. She disappeared from their home last June, in Urrugne. Ouest describes the disappointment of the mother’s relatives as they left the courtroom. “How can he look at us after that?” one of them whispers.

The defense emphasizes the absence of evidence demonstrating the guilt of Alexis Juret. “He reiterated his innocence and his incomprehension […] his suffering of being separated from his children too”, reports to our colleagues Me Vincent Faget, the defendant’s lawyer.

He “plays the trick of not seeing not taking”

On the contrary, he is “the perfect suspect”, for Me Thierry Sagardoytho, who defends the brother and a cousin of Laure Zacchello. The lawyer believes that Alexis Juret “plays cat and mouse with the investigating judges”, that he “plays the trick of not seeing not taking”, “sometimes in amnesia, sometimes in almost certainty […] these gesticulations fool no one.” And to underline the evidence against the suspect: traces of blood discovered at the couple’s home, in the car, or on a hammer found near the house, firearms which have disappeared…

The judges will say on January 7 whether Alexis Juret can leave prison.
