AUCTIONS – Found in an abandoned Parisian apartment, “L’Âge mature” was sold on February 16 by the Philocale house. Revelations about a fabulous discovery.

We had lost track of Mature age — also saysDestiny, The Path of Life, Fate — since its exhibition in 1907 and 1908 at the founder Eugène Blot in . Here is this bronze by Camille Claudel again, evoking the break with Auguste Rodin, an incredible surprise for Matthieu Semont of the Philocale house who is putting it up for auction on February 16 in Orléans. The auctioneer discovered it during an inventory after inheritance, in an apartment uninhabited for around fifteen years, near the Eiffel Tower.

A story that has everything to excite the market. « During my internship as an auctioneer, twenty-five years ago, I had in my hands The Implorant by Camille Claudel, also melted by Blot. I identified it immediately, says Matthieu Semont. I turned to the expertise firm of Alexandre Lacroix and Élodie Jeannest, in Paris, to establish a price. » The bronze (61.5 cm high, 85 cm long), is estimated at 1.5 to 2 million euros.
