Ithe imagination. Homer Simpson snoozing at the bus stop overlooking the port of Royan or Carl, the character from the cartoon “Là-Haut”, hanging from a sign next to the seafront pharmacy, it’s is him. Street art artist Efix had fun spreading ten of his works in the form of stickers throughout the city. It’s up to everyone to find them by going to the website Findthewall.com. After completing and recording the route using QR codes, a small gift awaits the triumphant walker at the Palais des Congrès where an exhibition is dedicated to the person concerned.
Efix first discovered Royan during a scouting trip in September, invited by the Palais Royan Événements in partnership with the municipality. “I admire the way this city combines its 1950s seaside heritage with a vision for innovation. If, usually, he practices sticking paper with flour, sugar and water to avoid damage, this time, we asked him to sacrifice to stickers. Question of cleanliness. But always in an ephemeral setting to show that the present is important. “I still hope that these stickers stay as long as possible. I see it as a breath of fresh air in a sometimes complicated daily life, underlines the artist who is inspired by the urban landscape. I have ideas that come to me when I see a pipe, a wall, a decor… I adapt to the architecture and not the other way around. There, I especially contextualized it with the Christmas period to bring smiles to children and families. »
These achievements belong to the street. I never sign my works
Where do the cartoon characters come from? “I come from a school that trains in animation. I haven’t finished the course to become a 3D designer but I have some leftovers (laughing). » The interested party must also remain vigilant regarding the immediate fate of their stickers. “I’ve already had one taken away from me. Not all people like what I do. What’s more, here where certain generations are not used to street art. I think it’s good to have it discovered. This is the goal, insists the one who never signs his achievements. It belongs to the street, not to me. My goal is to please people. I am not in an egocentric approach. »
Un DJ set
If, for the occasion, Efix took public space as a playground, he considers himself a multidisciplinary artist who “expresses his emotions through different forms of art such as music, graphics, etc.”. Always in a positive spirit with the intention of “making the world more human”. Moreover, he will go behind the decks during the closing evening of his exhibition at the Palais des Congrès, Friday December 20 at 6 p.m., for an exclusive live performance. This 35-year-old Montpellier native, exiled in Agadir, Morocco, is also a DJ with more than 53 million views on YouTube. A phenomenon.
