In front of an audience of stars

Several artists marked the evening which paid tribute to French culture, including the waiters’ race, like Maluma or Bad Bunny, but it was Aya Nakamura who stole the show from everyone . In a sumptuous strapless dress by Jean Paul Gaultier, the singer arrived on Place Vendôme to the sound of the hit “Around the World” by Daft Punk, in the middle of a guard of honor of Parisian waiters and an army of dancers. Under the gaze of Jared Leto or Diane Kruger, the French star performed a new version of his romantic ballad “Fly”, taken from his third album “AYA” (2020), in an epic symphonic rereading. “ Like a bird, I want to fly / We are connected / You feel, I feel all these faults / We are connected » chanted Aya Nakamura while a ballet of cyclists, in homage to the Tour de France, crisscrossed the square, and models paraded to recreate the Roaring Twenties.

A suspended moment which further underlined the international aura of Aya Nakamura, the most listened to French singer in the world. She also caused a sensation among Ciara, Maluma or Naomi Campbell at the party organized after the Vogue event, making American stars dance to the sound of her hit “Djadja”. Regardless, many saw Aya Nakamura’s performance as a sort of dress rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games where the “42” singer was expected to sing Edith Piafas Celine Dion.
