Before Avignon, artists panicked at the idea of the arrival of the RN

A few days before the Avignon Festival and its batch of “creations”, some of which subsidized works leave something to be desired, the artists are feverish. Seeing the RN at the gates of power, they are afraid. Fear for their freedom to express themselves, but also and above all fear of having their food cut off.

Some choose to “describe the whole range of racism, its different degrees, up to its opposite, benevolence or guilt”such as Julie Delpy, who directs the film The Barbarians (in theaters September 18). She tells us the story of a pretty village which welcomes charming Syrian refugees. But, alas, we read in the synopsis, “some, in this charming little Breton village, do not view the arrival of their new neighbors very favorably. So, at the end of the day, who are the barbarians? » Do you have the answer ?

Immigrationist propaganda which becomes all the more unbearable as French cinema is partly financed by the taxpayer, including for the films it abandons. Thus, Senator LR Roger Karoutchi pointed out, in a report in 2023, whose title “Itinerary of a spoiled art: public financing of cinema” easily predicts the content, “abundance of means” squandered in the service of the seventh art (31% financed by public funds in 2021) and called on the State to be more careful.

Others will complain on TV sets. Like Ariane Ascaride, an actress committed against global warming, for diversity and gender equality in cinema and audiovisual, and an activist artist, who spoke at BFM TV, June 19. For the latter, in the event of victory of the RN in the legislative elections, “it’s certain, all that is (sic) the subsidized theaters, what will remain in terms of subsidies? […] I’m sure they’ll make the intermittents disappear. […] They won’t attack the culture, they won’t care, they’ll take away the money, that’s all, and anyway, it’s always been like that. »

“Fake news” dependent

Already, in April 2022, Roselyne Bachelot, still Minister of Culture for a few days, signed a column in Releaseaccusing Marine Le Pen of “bringing artists, journalists and heads of cultural institutions into line”. Accusations immediately refuted by the person concerned, who responded to France Blue : “Don’t worry. I love culture as much as you and I will do everything to develop it as much as possible in our country. » The opportunity to confirm that it would maintain the regime of intermittent workers in the entertainment industry: “It’s an expensive diet, it’s true. But it is a choice, because without this regime, there is no longer any cultural offer possible, there is no longer any cultural creation possible. » Concerning the crux of the matter (these precious subsidies), Marine Le Pen added: “I don’t choose the grants I give based on people’s political proximity. Maybe that’s what sets me apart from others. »

Thus, many untruths regularly publicized fuel the concerns of people in the entertainment industry. They would do better to look at the policy already applied by RN municipalities. In Perpignan, for example, Louis Aliot, contacted by us, in turn denounces these false trials: “We are always accused of wanting to deconstruct everything and stop everything. That’s not what I did in my city. We need culture for everyone, there is no reason to deprive it of those with whom we do not share a certain number of ideas. In Perpignan, I made these efforts, even if we don’t like everything. But we also offer cultural offerings that did not exist, I am thinking for example of the Gypsy Culture Festival. » And the councilor cites, as additional proof, the subsidies not only maintained but increased to the International Photojournalism Festival, while “its director is an adversary of the National Rally”.

But there is no man so blind as he who does not want to see. Locked in its ideology, the world of culture continues its bludgeoning, persists and signs.
