A new royal family survey shows Duchess Meghan is among the least liked royals. Why is Prince Harry’s wife so controversial? Blick royalty expert Flavia Schlittler knows why.

Duchess Meghan is far behind in a new poll of Britons about the most popular royals. She comes in penultimate place, just ahead of Prince Andrew, the cause of many scandals.
Prince Harry’s wife is not only unpopular with citizens. The British press also follows each of his misadventures and reports them with mischief.
Why is Meghan so unpopular? The love story between Harry and Meghan began in 2016 like a Hollywood romance.
“It all started during an interview with Oprah Winfrey”
“During Prince Harry and Meghan’s romantic outing, people’s hearts went out to them in 2016,” recalls royal expert Flavia Schlittler. The American brought a breath of fresh air to the dusty English royal family. Meghan was divorced, an actress and of multi-ethnic origin. Flavia Schlittler explains: “We hoped that Meghan would modernize the monarchy.”
At first, the British forgave him for many small and large missteps. For example, when she showed up without stockings – against royal etiquette – to Queen Elizabeth II.
The time has passed. In 2021, Meghan’s popular sympathy among the people has suddenly fallen. Flavia Schlittler thinks she knows the reason: “It all started during the fatal interview with Oprah Winfrey. Meghan and Harry made massive criticisms of the British royal family. It was about racism and mobbing.”
At the time, the actress, aged 42, said that a member of the royal family wanted to know the skin color of Archie, who had not yet been born.
Flavia Schlittler comments: “It’s easy to pretend that everything happens because she is of mixed heritage. Then the big club of racism landed at Buckingham Palace.
“She puts her feet in the dish”
Even the latest appearances of the Duchess of Sussex no longer manage to ease tensions. Flavia Schlittler says Harry and Meghan’s trip to Nigeria is the next PR debacle.
In Nigeria, a large part of the population suffers from poverty and Duchess Meghan goes there without any tact: “She goes there with outfits costing around 130,000 francs. She sometimes appears extremely naked. The first lady of Nigeria was annoyed and declared: ‘Nudity is not part of our culture’.
According to her, this undiplomatic behavior is characteristic of the Duchess of Sussex. The expert continues: “That’s typically what she does. Meghan tells untruths, it goes back to her biography. She claims to come from a poor background. However, it turns out that his father won more than 600,000 francs in the lottery. She had the privilege of attending a private school and taking ballet classes.
In short: “Meghan rushes into all the traps at full speed! It doesn’t matter where it is placed,” analyzes Flavia Schlittler.
Duchess Meghan needs to become more authentic
But how could she regain sympathy points? Flavia Schlittler has some suggestions: “She should be authentic, she should withdraw a little and she should not distribute soups in poor neighborhoods with outfits costing 1000 francs.”
“If awareness comes, humility is part of adequate management of situations. But Harry and Meghan are caught in an ego bubble. It’s just ‘the two of us against the rest of the world.’
