Lhe public funeral of Belgian soprano Jodie Devos, who died on Sunday at the age of 35, will take place Saturday morning, at 10 a.m., in Saint-Aubain Cathedral in Namur, the deceased’s artistic agency announced on Tuesday. This last tribute is open to all.

Jodie Devos, was born in Libramont in 1988 and grew up in Lahérie (Neufchâteau).

After discovering lyrical singing at the Ciney conservatory, she studied at the Institute of Music and Pedagogy in Namur and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 2014, she won the Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition of Belgium. She has also performed on the biggest international stages and collaborated with renowned conductors and directors.

In 2015, Jodie Devos became an honorary citizen of the city of Namur. She died on Sunday following a devastating cancer in Paris. But it is in the Walloon capital that the public will be able to pay him a last tribute, Saturday morning in the Saint-Aubain cathedral.

In the meantime, flowers and letters of support can be sent to the Laloux-Chaudoir funeral center in Champion (Namur).
